Office

Jeroen Marseille has been working as a designer and project leader for outdoor projects since 2000. His office, founded in 2012, is specialised in the design of public space. The focus is on an integrated approach, with quality of life, climate resilience and manufacturability.

Since completing his studies in Architectural Design and the Master Urban Interior Design, Jeroen has been working on projects in the outdoor space. At Karres en Brands landscape architects he developed himself from 2000 till 2010 as projectleader-designer of mainly public space projects. Between 2010 and 2012 he continued this work at Strootman Landscape Architects. Due to these years of experience he can work on different scale levels in the outdoor space; that of the object and that of the landscape itself.

Vision

In his designs, it is always visible that the users take centre stage. Designs must be functional, but they must also appeal to the human scale and add something to the place in the city or landscape. This addition makes the place special, but at the same time, it is always reserved and subdued.
A design for public space is only successful if it still functions as well after several years as when it was completed. Of course, there will always be signs of wear and tear, but the main components should still stand. The quality of the materials and details is therefore of great importance and can only be achieved if there is a good understanding and communication between designer and executing parties. This is precisely where Jeroen Marseille has proven himself in recent years as designer and project leader.

Jeroen Marseille

Jeroen's expertise is in designing outdoor spaces in the broadest sense, in which the implementation and attention to detail are of paramount importance.

Jeroen Marseille graduated in 1999 from the Utrecht School of Arts (HKU) in Architectural Design and 2001 as Master of Arts-Urban Interior Design from HKU/The Open University. From 2000 to 2010, he worked as a designer/project leader at Karres en Brands. After that, he started working at Strootman Landscape Architects until he founded Marseille Buiten in 2012.

Designing outdoor spaces in the broadest sense of the word is his speciality, in which the implementation and attention to detail are of paramount importance.

In addition to his work at the office, Jeroen teaches professional skills to second-year students at the HKU and is a substitute member of the Spatial Quality Committee in Wageningen.

Lindy Beuk

As a designer, Lindy wants to make the city greener and thus create a pleasant living environment.

Lindy Beuk has worked as a designer at Marseille Buiten since 2020. She graduated from the Utrecht Academy of Arts as a Spatial Designer. During her studies, she broadened her knowledge by going on an exchange to KU Leuven Architecture Campus Sint-Lucas in Ghent.

In addition to her work, she is currently studying for a master's degree in Landscape Architecture at the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture.

As a designer, Lindy wants to make the city greener and thus create a pleasant living environment.

Vincent Quené

As a designer, Vincent is committed to realizing high-quality and multi-layered plans that contribute to the environment.

Vincent Quené joined Marseille Buiten as a designer in 2022. He graduated from Van Hall Larenstein as a landscape designer with a specialization in spatial design.

During his studies, Vincent completed a minor in Urbanism & Landscape Architecture at the Academy of Architecture in Amsterdam. In his opinion, a good understanding of the discipline also requires knowledge of connecting disciplines such as urbanism.

As a designer, Vincent is committed to realizing high-quality and multi-layered plans that contribute to the environment. In particular, designing the intersection between the city and the landscape is something that interests him.

Johannes Wiersma

Johannes' passion lies primarily in creating visions.

Johannes Wiersma has been working as a designer at Marseille Buiten since 2023. He graduated from Van Hall Larenstein as a Strategic Designer. Previous to his bachelor's degree, he completed MBO Urban Design program.

As a designer, Johannes wants to contribute to a green and sustainable environment. Especially in creating visions and working on the initial ideas lies his passion.

Annelies Hollink

In her designs, Annelies likes to make outdoor spaces greener and more sustainable so that people, from all ages, enjoy spending time there.

Annelies Hollink has been working as a designer at Marseille Buiten since 2023. She graduated in 2014 from Hogeschool van Hall Larenstein in Velp, where she completed the bachelor's degree in Garden and Landscape Design with specializations in garden architecture and outdoor space management. After her studies, she gained a lot of experience in designing gardens, with occasional crossovers into public spaces.

She has a good knowledge of plants and gets excited about creating green designs that reflect the human scale. She also values discovering existing qualities of a place and incorporating them into the design.

Thijs Klein Ovink

Thijs enjoys working on resilient, inclusive and biodiverse public spaces where the user of the space is at the core.

Thijs Klein Ovink has worked at Marseille Buiten since November 1, 2023. He graduated from Hogeschool Gent in garden and landscape design. After then having worked at Witteveen and Bos for 1.5 years, he now joins our team as a landscape designer.

In addition to his work as a designer at Marseille Buiten, he is currently pursuing a master's degree in landscape architecture at the Academy of Architecture in Amsterdam. During this course, he also participated in the 1-year EMiLA program (European Masters in Landscape Architecture) through which he studied in Versailles and Barcelona.
