The addition of housing on the former site of the De Stuifhoek primary school increases the density in Made, while also creating space for enhanced green quality. Based on a vision for the new urban layout (school and housing), we designed the schoolyard in close collaboration with the users.
The advantage of an integrated approach from the start—combining the schoolyard with the surrounding public space—lies in the thoughtful decisions made to enhance the overall functionality of the area. Pedestrian and cycling routes were logically and safely designed, connecting the square to its surroundings.
The existing trees were a valuable asset to the project. These trees helped shape the plan and, along with new greenery, will keep this space green and cool in the future.
Made now has another green schoolyard.
