In Montfoort, a new Integrated Child Center (IKC) has been completed on Parklaan, providing a beautiful new space for the primary schools Graaf Jan, De Hobbitstee, and De Howiblo, along with a daycare center (KDO) and an after-school care facility (BSO).

Marseille Buiten is gevraagd om een ontwerp te maken van de buitenruimte rondom dit nieuwe gebouw.
Marseille Buiten was commissioned to design the outdoor space surrounding this new building, presenting a great opportunity to create an attractive, green square that meets the needs of the various schools and the daycare center.

The design of the square ensures a sense of unity, while the flowing shapes of the sections and surfaces, combined with the placement of trees, create a clear division into different zones. These zones are designated for either the upper or lower grades of the different schools. Some schools wanted to share their playgrounds for the lower grades, while others preferred a completely separate area. The after-school care section needed to be fenced off from the rest of the square.

In front of the main entrance, a large square with long benches was designed, providing a waiting area for parents picking up their children. Additionally, tree benches have been added throughout the square, allowing teachers to easily supervise the children during outdoor play.

The plan was developed in close collaboration with the users and with input from local residents.
