After winning the tender, we designed the grounds around the new Borne West sports building. This beautiful location is situated along Twickelerblokweg on the edge of Borne. The current swimming pool will remain in place, creating an entrance plaza between the two buildings.
There was no specific program for the plaza, so we designed a relaxed green space incorporating several sports and exercise features. From the large parking lot, visitors will walk along footpaths to the building’s grand, monumental entrance. The indoor-outdoor connection is especially well-defined at this entrance, blurring the boundary between the two.
The layout of the parking area is closely tied to that of the plaza, creating a cohesive visual identity and establishing a new hub for an active Borne.
As part of the sports facility design process, we also created the plans for the new parking area along Azelosestraat at the request of the municipality of Borne.
The lot was constructed in summer 2024 and completed in the fall.
