At the south edge of Vriezenveen lies sports park Het Midden, of which the skating rink will partly give way to the construction of swimming pool De Stamper. We were asked by the municipality of Vriezenveen to draw up a vision for the whole park. Out of this plan, the preconditions for the square design for De Stamper would be formulated.

In our vision, we added walking connections which enhanced the area’s social safety and linked the adjoining outskirts to the village in a smart way. At various places we inserted residential quality by constructing sturdy wooden outside furniture. Added to this, trees and plants will make for more biodiversity and a greater park value, so that the area will remain a park before or after sports.

The entrance square for the swimming pool De Stamper, as designed by Slangen+Koenis, is basic in its detail and links the future walking paths to the new building. Planting sections and hardened areas are grouped in a strict pattern, which loosely refers to the original stroke landscape. A wooden duckboard connects the square to the remaining skating rink.
